Twitter announced this Tuesday, January 27, a new functionality in the microblog that allows the use of direct messages, previously exclusive to conversations between two people who were following each other, talking to several users at the same time. The feature works as a chat room or group on Facebook Messenger. The novelty comes, at least for now, only for mobile applications, both on iOS (iPhone) and Android.

Group users do not need to follow all participants for the conversation to be established. Therefore, it is sufficient for a common follower to invite everyone through a notification received on their cell phone. Twitter Groups supports exchanging text, links, images and emojis and accept up to 20 people.

“Private conversations on Twitter are a great complement to the highly public platform experience. You may prefer to read (or view) tweets, but discuss them privately. You may want to continue a private public conversation with a smaller group, or start a tweet conversation you saw."

“Many of the users use direct messages to reach the people and brands they are connected to only through Twitter. Whatever the case, the ability to speak privately with groups offers more options for how and with whom you communicate on Twitter."

Video capture

The app also gained a native feature of capturing videos. Now, users of the social network on iOS and Android can make recordings of up to 30 seconds and make minor edits without leaving the official application. IPhone users can also use clip lists stored in the memory of their cameras.

The update with the two new features are gradually being released, being available to all users, including Latin Americans, in the coming days.
