Following in the footsteps of Facebook and Google , Twitter is planning to ban cryptocurrency advertising and all coin offerings (ICOs), according to Sky News.
Twitter to start banning crypto advertising in two weeks
In January, Facebook banned currency ads like Bitcoin in an effort to combat scams of this type of currency, while Google did the same last week. Sky News says (via Engadget ) that the new ad policies would ban ads worldwide for ICOs, token sales, and everything related to cryptocurrencies. The site could also ban ads for cryptocurrency exchanges, but with some possible exceptions that they have not wanted to clarify at the moment.
The ban could start in two weeks. This is not the first step Twitter has taken to stop cryptocurrency scams. Previously they had already started withdrawing accounts from fake celebrities asking for small amounts of balance in cryptocurrencies.
Something is being very clear, the main Internet services do not want to have anything to do with cryptocurrencies due to how vulnerable they are to scams. Unfortunately, these virtual currencies are not having all the security support they should. They move millions of dollars per day and it is a great business for many users who have invested in equipment, they are only lacking greater regulation and clear rules of the game that make betting on them a reliable decision.
