A dashboard on your apple tv

The current fourth version of Apple TV, the one that promised to become a gaming platform and even the epicenter of the smart home, has not met expectations. There are many game developers who have not even tried it, and many others who have already abandoned it, or announced to do so, such as the popular Minecraft. Currently, Apple TV 4 is a “box” that we basically use to watch audiovisual content (Netflix, HBO, the terrible Amazon Prime Video app), listen to music or podcasts, and little else. But despite this, there are still those who continue to bet on it. This is the case of Punya Chatterjee, developers behind the new DayView app with which we can enjoy a personalized dashboard on the screen of our television.

DayView "turns" your Apple TV into a dashboard

In a similar way to the existing application for iOS ( Today View ), DayView allows us to visualize a dashboard that offers us diverse information and that we can customize according to our tastes and needs, although in a rather limited way.

The DayView interface is made up of a series of widgets that offer information connected to online and / or personal services, providing information at a single glance on a single screen.

You can customize the wallpaper among the different options available, and also select which widgets you want to appear and where in the panel. In addition, the information will be updated automatically so you can exit the app to watch an episode of your series and return to it whenever you want.

Currently, the app includes widgets for weather, travel time, Google calendar, the Stock Exchange, Twitter trends and news headlines, but Chatterjee plans to build several more, as well as improve existing ones with better customization options.

Possibilities for future updates include custom wallpapers, additional news sources for the news widget, integration with HomeKit, increased calendar options, etc. As I said at the beginning, your options are still quite limited, but you can download it for free here.
