The social network has alerted its users that there has been a security breach. Because of this , phone numbers and email addresses of users with verified accounts have been compromised. It is not yet known what type of failure was present in the interface, but that has been the way in which they have managed to access said data.

Instagram has wanted to reassure users and denies that attackers have had access to user passwords. Although they wanted to recommend those users with verified accounts to exercise extreme caution and change passwords as a precaution.

Although this type of event affects the image of the social network, it is something that we have seen occur on other social networks such as Twitter. At the moment the social network is investigating what has happened. So it is possible that Instagram offers more data or claims that the problem is solved soon.
