A false link can cause suspensions and restarts on ios and mac

Recently, a malicious link that causes an error on both Mac and iOS devices was shared through the social network Twitter; In the event that you receive this link through the Messages application on your Mac, iPhone or iPad, the device in question could be “frozen” or suffer from unwanted restarts, or the Messages app could be disabled.

The link, which leads us to a page included in Github, causes the Messages application to crash and causes problems on both iOS and Mac devices. The simple reception of this message is already a germ of problems with the app, probably due to the function included in Messages and thanks to which we can preview the web links that are shared with us or that we share with our contacts. As they point out from the MacRumors website, when trying to share the link, the Messages application was blocked completely.

The only solution seems to be to exit the Messages app and then delete the entire conversation where the failure occurred to restore full functionality.

It is not the first time that something similar has happened. These types of message-based errors have come up several times in the past, with text strings, videos, and more, causing crashes in the Messages app. Such failures are not serious, but they do cause discomfort to users because it prevents the normal use of the App, so it is recommended not to send this message to anyone.

If your device is affected, you should exit the Messages application on Mac or iOS, and delete all the conversation that includes the message.

On Mac, you need to swipe right on the touchpad or right-click on the person's name to delete the conversation, while on iOS, you'll have to swipe right on the person's name to bring up the Delete option.

It is also highly recommended to lock the domain to prevent something like this from happening again.
