Valve has now taken a new step forward with the announcement of its EV3 knuckles controller, which offers several improvements over its predecessor, offering stronger trigger springs, improved straps, high-efficiency sensors and a better finish. This EV3 knuckles controller translates the knuckles concept into something that appears to be ready for production, promising a 7-8 hour battery life between charges, a 2-hour improvement over the EV2.

Valve has also committed to shipping its EV3 knuckle development kits in higher quantities than its EV2 models, with plans to reach users of the latter shortly. At the moment, it is unknown when Valve plans to bring its new Knuckles controllers to market, heralding a new era of virtual reality controls for gamers within the Valve 'SteamVR ecosystem. It is also unknown what the price will be, something very important since a very high cost could become a new obstacle for virtual reality users.
