Recent rumors have suggested that Apple could include a lightning charger to USB-C in the box of the next iOS devices that are released this year, thus replacing the USB connection that we are more used to seeing and using with dozens of devices. Now, some images are leaked that, perhaps, could be confirming such intentions.

Apple's new USB-C charger

This hypothetical new 18w Lightning to USB-C cable would allow faster charging of devices without users having to resort to separate charging accessories, at the cost that this implies. However, if we think about it carefully, many would be the users who will have to get a USB-C to USB adapter for when they want or need to charge their device on a computer other than the MacBook, or using another wall charger, power strip with integrated USB connections, etc.

The new photos that accompany this post have been published by Chongdiantou and show us what was supposed to be a prototype of the real version of the USB-C charger that would accompany the next iPhone in the United States. However, as pointed out by MacRumors, we must warn that its veracity could not be confirmed.

The design of the charger is in line with previous versions, with a compact body in the style of the 5W charger that Apple has always been included in the iPhone case: a pair of American plugs on one side, and a USB-C connector on the other. However, the charger appears somewhat thicker than usual.

The text it includes is also somewhat different, although this may be due to its prototype nature. This text classifies it with the model number A1720, also in line with the nomenclature used by Apple, and confirms that it offers an output of up to 5V at 3A (15W) or 9V at 2A (18W).
