Anonim

To put ourselves in a position, VSPC is a new Spanish brand created from the union of several groups specialized in the design, configuration and assembly of computers with more than 20 years of experience to offer us a new range of desktop computers geared towards office, gaming and Expert level. And we are going to release one of the most powerful creations, the VSPC Qubist Gold, a creator-oriented range that is divided into bronze, silver, gold and platinum.

This team bases its exterior aesthetics on the well-known NOX Hummer TGF with its 4 RGB fans and the addition of the 240mm NOX H-240CL system to cool the powerful Intel Core i9-9900K that we have inside. This configuration also has an 8GB Nvidia Quadro P4000 GPU and an 850W PSU to more than cover the needs. We really want to see what this powerful team from the Malaga firm offers us, so let's get started!

But first, we must thank VSPC for having trusted us for the loan of this equipment to do our analysis.

VSPC Qubist Gold technical features

Unboxing

When we get home this VSPC Qubist Gold or any other of this brand will do it in what would basically be the box of the proper size of the chassis with the corresponding VSPC inscription on neutral cardboard. In this case, being teams assembled with recognized components that we can even choose from time to time ourselves, we will not have a purely corporate presentation, since the boxes of the components mounted inside will also be included.

Inside the box or boxes in question, we lay the equipment perfectly accommodated with the corresponding expanded polystyrene cork panels. Along with the bundle, the following elements will be provided:

  • Windows OEM key (if requested) A document with the performance tests carried out and results, Additional mounting accessory for the equipment (and screws of the chassis) Recovery pendrive VSPC Survet 16 GB 230V power cable

The equipment will come completely assembled and ready to use, since it comes from the factory with Windows 10 pre-installed, although without activating unless we buy the license for 99 euros in the pack. In fact, it is a great detail from the manufacturer to deliver this equipment with all the boxes of the components used inside, we are talking about board, cooling, GPU, etc.

NOX Hummer TGF chassis based design

Important weight in the assembly of these equipment is the NOX brand, which, of course, is the one that, among other things, provides the chassis for the VSPC Qubist Gold. It is a NOX Hummer TGF RGB chassis that we know very well from having been analyzed in 2018 and to which we give a well-deserved good score for its worked design and great hardware capacity. The measures of this half-tower chassis are 445 deep, 266 mm wide and 535 mm high.

As you already have the in-depth review at the top link, we will quickly go through its main aesthetic aspects. And one of its main claims is to have no less than 4 of its 6 faces with tempered glass. In addition, it is a 4 mm thick glass with a slightly darker mirror smoked on the front and right area. In this case, none of the lateral faces have the glass mounted on hinges, but rather by 4 manual thread screws.

The front of this VSPC Qubist Gold has its glass slightly separated from the plastic casing to allow air to pass in or out depending on the configuration we decide to use. Because the best of all is that, being a generic chassis, we can work perfectly on it to expand or modify its elements. In fact, the front is completely removable, and the three RGB fans are mounted on this outer part for better accessibility by the user.

In the back we have a fourth fan thus completing the 120mm pack that is included in the chassis. These have an addressable RGB lighting system that will be controlled by a microcontroller located inside the chassis and managed by a button on the I / O panel capable of providing us with a large number of lighting effects. This controller also provides power connections and speed control for the fans. The only limitation is that it does not have any support software for this management.

The PC allows us to turn off the lights in case it bothers us. Do we have a button on the control panel for this?

Both front and bottom metal medium grain dust filters have been installed to prevent larger particles from entering the interior. The upper area also includes one of these filters in case we want to relocate the fans in this area or increase the count to 5 that it supports.

Ports and connections

In this way we get to the back of the VSPC Qubist Gold where we will find most of the connection ports except for those located on the front panel of the chassis.

Starting precisely from the front area we have:

  • 2x USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-A2x USB 2.02x 3.5mm jack for audio output and micro input Control knob for RGB lighting Control for three-position fans RESET and power button

We see a fairly complete panel in which only one Type-C is missing. A total of 4 USB ports is not bad to expand the connectivity of the motherboard if possible. We also have the commented buttons to manage fans and lighting. The controller supports up to 8 RGB fans and 4 independent LED strips.

Now we will go to the back where we will have the ports of the motherboard and the graphics card itself. These will be the following:

  • 1x USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-C1x USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-A4x USB 3.1 Gen11x HDMI 1.41x DisplayPort 1.21x D-Sub (VGA) 1x PS / 2 RJ-45 port EthernetS / PDIF audio5x 3.5mm Jack

The CPU will provide:

  • 4x Display Port 1.4

It is a fairly complete configuration, although we note the absence of HDMI ports on the graphics card for being a design-oriented and for 4 monitors with resolutions up to 5120 × 2880 @ 60 FPS in HDR and with 30 bits of color depth.

Being a more or less standard motherboard with a Z390 chipset, we do not have Thunderbolt 3 connectivity which would have been good news for professional designers who use it. In normal terms, the DisplayPorts will be more than enough, since a Full HD monitor for this team would not make sense.

Interior and hardware

We have already seen a good preview of what we have inside this VSPC Qubist Gold, and it is top-notch hardware. In addition, if we give a review of the components, we will see that it comes out for a fairly adjusted price for the user.

VSPC only uses top brand hardware such as Asus, MSI, Gigabyte, ASRock for motherboards, Intel for CPUs, Nvidia for GPUs, and Corsair, Kingston, etc. for the rest of hardware like RAM. In addition, being a manufacturer with great weight in this brand, NOX will also provide a large number of components, especially in the cooling and high-performance chassis.

In any case, if we are not totally satisfied with any of the basic components, we will only have to contact the brand to indicate what modifications we want to make, for example, a plate change. To the initial cost of the product the extra cost will be added if we place a more expensive component than it brings.

When you buy a VSPC computer, this great cable collection kit includes us. They are two rubber systems that we can place on the end of the surface of our table and have organized the cables of our computer and peripherals.

To keep it firmly and without the possibility of moving, it has an adhesive tape that fixes very well on the table. The final result, you can see it in the last photo.

Nvidia Quadro graphics card for content creation

We will start with the graphics card, as it is one of the distinctive elements of this Expert series made up of 4 teams. Well here we find a whole Nvidia Quadro P4000 assembled by PNY, one of the graphics cards most used by publishers even after the exits of the expensive Titan.

This GPU implements a Pascal architecture GP104 chipset with a manufacturing process at 16 nm FinFET. It has 1792 CUDA cores inside with an FP32 calculation capacity of 5.2 TFLOPS, working at a base frequency of 1202 MHz and 1480 MHz in turbo mode. It has a memory capacity of 8 GB GDDR5, chips that are capable of working at 7604 MHz effective frequency. The bus width in this case is 256 bits, the result of adding its 8 memory chips, each of them 32 bits. This in turn generates a bandwidth of 243.3 GB / s.

As a more indicative result to compare it with other CPUs we have 112 TMUs (texturing units) and 64 ROPs (raster units). It is a card that supports a total of 4 monitors in 5K @ 60 FPS resolution and with 30-bit HDR. All this power only generates a TDP of 105W and the power is supplied with a simple 6-pin PCI power port.

Processor and RAM

The CPU we have in the VSPC Qubist Gold is an Intel Core i9-9900K under socket LGA 1151, currently the most powerful in the blue giant for desktop computers under this socket. It has an 8-core count and 16 processing threads thanks to HyperThreading, under a manufacturing process of 14nm ++ Coffee Lake Refresh. It works at a base frequency of 3.6 GHz and 5.0 GHz in Turbo Boost mode, although it supports considerable overclocking thanks to having its multiplier unlocked. It has 16 MB of L3 cache memory and a TDP of 95W.

Teaming up with it, we have a RAM memory configuration that we really liked. These are Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO DDR4 modules, which may be installed in a total of 4 × 8 GB for a total of 32 GB as in our case, or 2 × 8 GB for a total of 16 GB. Specifically, those that have been installed are 3200 MHz with CL16-18-18-36 latencies and of course compatible with XMP profile. Its chips are covered by an aluminum package provided with RGB lighting compatible with Corsair iCUE to manage it.

Motherboard and storage

The motherboard incorporates a heatsink in one of the M.2 NVME sockets for installing a high speed SSD

It is fortunate to have recognized components, since in this way we can inform you of all its most important characteristics, something that would not be possible with manufacturers' own equipment in most cases.

The motherboard that has been chosen for this VSPC Qubist Gold is an ASRock Z390 Extreme 4 that we have on the market for a considerable price of 170 euros, which is not turkey mucus. It has the Intel Z390 chipset, the best performance for the Intel gaming platform, with a medium power supply 12 phases of 60A power supply and high quality Nichicon 12K capacitors. To avoid high temperatures, we have a good XL size aluminum double heatsink for the VRM, another encapsulated for the chipset and a heatsink for one of the M.2 slots. To all this we add three RGB lighting zones.

Speaking precisely of expandability, we have a total of 3 PCIe 3.0 x16 slots running at x16 / x8 / x8 compatible with AMD CrossFireX 3-way and Nvidia Quad GPU SLI. In fact, this Quadro P4000 supports SLI MultiGPU systems. Returning to the board, we have a total of 6 SATA III 6 Gbps ports along with another 2 managed by an ASMedia chip. And as fast storage 2 M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0 x4 slots, we must keep in mind that each of them share a bus with two SATA ports. (M_1 with SATA 0 and 1, M_2 with SATA 4 and 5).

As for the network connectivity of this board we have a standard using the Intel I219V chip of 10/100/1000 Mbps. Likewise, it has a high-level sound card thanks to the Realtek ALC1220 codec with 7.1 audio channels in high quality, which are complemented by a dedicated NE5532 headphone DAC. This board does not implement Thunderbolt 3 connectivity in the I / O panel, although ASRock has a connector prepared on it for users who want to install such an expansion card in one of the PCIe.

Refrigeration and PSU

And finishing with the internal hardware analysis, we have installed a liquid cooling system in the VSPC Qubist Gold. Specifically, it is the NOX H-240CL, the 240 mm mount version from the Malaga manufacturer that should meet the needs of the demanding i9-9900K. This system is not the version with fans and RGB block but its performance is similar, it has two 120mm PWM controlled Hummer fans and a block with good quality copper cold plate.

If we take a good look inside, we will notice that the system is located in the front area. With the RGB fans pre-installed, it has been used to make a push & pull system with 5 fans that in this case blow air into the interior and help cool the radiator. After this, another rear fan is responsible for removing all the hot air along with the natural convection towards the top.

The installed power supply is a NOX Hummer GD850 80 Plus Gold, standard size ATX with 160mm and 80 Plus Gold efficiency certification. With it we have all the power needs covered, and it also allows expansion of the GPU since it has 4 PCIE connectors of 6 + 2 pins, 5 SATA and 1 EPS of 4 + 4 pins. It should easily support the type of use this model is intended for, yet we recommend that you take a look at our guide to the best power supplies.

Tests and performance tests

It is time to subject the VSPC Qubist Gold to stress tests and benchmarks to see how it performs as a whole and in its different components.

SSD performance

We start with a test to assess the read and write capabilities of the SSD storage drive. To do this, we have used the CristalDiskMark 6.0.2 software.

In this case, we have opted for greater capacity than performance, with 1 mechanical 2TB HDD and another 2.5 SATA SSD which we have benchmarked. Not much to comment on, these are expected values for a disc of this type, and we thought an M.2 unit would have been more convenient for fighting competitive mounted teams.

Benchmarks and synthetic tests

Let's see below the synthetic test block. For this we have used the following programs:

  • Cinebench R15Cinebench R20Blender (Render) PCMark 83DMark Time Spy, Fire Strike, Fire Strike Ultra

Gaming performance

To establish a real performance of this VSPC Qubist Gold, we have tested a total of 6 titles with fairly existing graphics. Although this graphics card is focused on the professional world, it does not mean that you can not take a few games with them. We have used the following settings in each title:

  • Final Fantasy XV, standard, TAA, DirectX 12 DOOM, Ultra, TAA, Open GL Deus EX Mankind Divided, Alto, Anisotropico x4, DirectX 12 Far Cry 5, Alto, TAA, DirectX 12 Metro Exodus, Alto, Anisotropico x16, DirectX 12 Shadow of the Tomb Rider, High, TAA + Anisotropic x4, DirectX 12

As it is not a graphics card oriented to gaming we will not have too high registers, although they do serve us for example to compare it with other cards. Because we get very few of this type, we do not have our own benchmarks for design, nor, consequently, the possibility of a relevant comparison for the user.

Temperatures

The stress process that the VSPC Qubist Gold has undergone has lasted around 60 minutes, in order to have a reliable average temperature. This process has been carried out with Furmark, Prime95 and the capture of temperatures with HWiNFO.

VSPC Qubist Gold Idle Full
CPU 28 ° C 89 ° C
GPU 32 ° C 69 ° C

These values can surely be improved by placing two other fans on top to exhaust hot air. The i9-9900K usually has problems with high temperatures after prolonged stress processes, so we see generally high temperatures, although not worrisome.

Final words and conclusion about VSPC Qubist Gold

We come to the end of this review where we have been presented with an excellent desktop geared towards content creators and rendering. As a company that assembles less equipment and parts, we always have very recognizable hardware, such as the NOX TGF chassis with incredible aesthetics and complete cooling.

Regarding performance, we have it secured with the i9-9900K and Quadro P4000, we can also choose 16 or 32 GB of Corsair RAM of the best quality and RGB. We have only lacked in this aspect an SSD that was NVMe, to take advantage of the capacity of the ASRock Z390 board. In any case, 3TB of storage is not bad. In addition, a recovery USB is included to reset the equipment properly.

Temperatures are within acceptable limits as we have a good performance 240 NOX liquid cooling system. However, we believe that the flow can still be optimized, with two upper fans, the RL system on top, or a "push and pull" out to expel hot air, perhaps improve those 5 or 10 degrees that round off the team. Being a generic chassis, we can do this ourselves or order it from the brand.

We recommend our PC configuration guide for design

The VSPC Qubist Gold is a model designed and prepared to meet the needs of the most demanding designers. We see it as an ideal option to retouch photography with Adobe Photoshop or Affinity Photo, edit video with Adobe Premiere PRO or DaVinci Resolve or for 3D modeling.

For example, we have been able to export multiple 4K videos with Adobe Premiere PRO in very good times. And we have tried Maya to render samples with very remarkable results. We can say that this PC has proven to withstand high design workloads.

Last but not least, all configurations have chassis ready for the user to make extensions, eg storage, cooling or more components. As you can understand they are hand-mounted equipment, so VSPC also offers the client the possibility of exchanging some component for another model or brand if they so desire. Be it a change of board, SSD or storage expansion, since it offers personalized support both in the post-sale and in the presale. The truth is that few brands work better than this and offer such versatility.

Finally we must talk about the price and availability, and we will find this VSPC Qubist Gold for the sum of 2, 299 euros in the official VSPC store. In addition to this, within the Expert Series we have 4 more options, classified as bronze, and lower performance silver, and platinum, maximum performance. Something of great importance is the fact of being able to equip them with a 24 ”or 27” Full HD monitor. All shipments are free.
