Google launches the new security patch for Android devices. This patch covers a recently detected vulnerability that affects millions of devices. This is a vulnerability detected in Broadcom WiFi chips. Apparently, the problem also affects some iPhone models.

The vulnerability has been called BroadPwn. This is a localized problem with Broadcom's BCM43xx WiFi chips. Apparently, said vulnerability allows remote code execution, without the need for interaction with the user in question.

Android devices and some iPhone in danger

The researchers who have detected this vulnerability claim that it is millions of Android devices that are at risk. There are also some iPhone models that are vulnerable, since they also have a chip from that family. Such chips appear to be found in a huge range of Android devices. Brands like Samsung, HTC or LG use them.

This makes the problem large-scale given the large numbers of devices of these brands that users own. It is not the only detected problem that will be corrected with this July security patch. A total of 136 security issues have been detected on Android. Of these 10 are critical, 94 high risk and the remaining 32 moderate.

Therefore, to avoid risks, it is recommended that all Android users download the security patch as soon as possible and thus protect themselves against any potential danger.
