Windows 10 Anniversary Update has brought many improvements but also some other complications. We recently talked about freezing problems and now we have to refer to another problem that arises after installing this update and that affects the speed of Internet browsing.

Your Internet could be slower with Windows 10 Anniversary

It turns out that after installing the Windows 10 Anniversary update, many users have noticed that the speed of navigation suffers and the total bandwidth of the connection is not used.

The origin of the problem arises from a function that Microsoft added in the old and remembered Windows Vista, Auto-Tuning, a feature that is still present in Windows 10 and that, in theory, is in charge of controlling the reception of TCP packets to improve the performance of the Internet connection.

How is it possible to fix it in Windows 10?

The Auto-Tuning function is so 'advanced' that it cannot even be configured in Windows 10 as if we were entering the Control Panel, for this we must use the 'CMD' command line.

Once we have the CMD open we must enter this:

netsh interface tcp show global

With this we can see the status of Auto-Tuning, if it is activated (Normal) or deactivated (Disabled).

As here at ProfessionalReview we don't go around with little girls, we are going to directly deactivate this function that is useless in practice, to achieve this we must enter CMD (System Symbol):

netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel = disabled

In case we want to reactivate this function for any reason, we simply enter:

netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel = normal

This should solve the problem of your slow connection in Windows 10 Anniversary Update, of course, before doing this you must check that the problem is not another, your modem, router, any app or directly your Internet provider.
