Windows 10 pro can't handle threadripper 3990x well

AMD recently released its powerful Threadripper 3990X, a 128-wire CPU with a single-core 4.3 GHz boost clock. As previously reported, the AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3990X "makes full use of the 7nm Zen 2 architecture" with 64 cores and 128 threads. However, taking advantage of all this number of cores is not easy for Windows 10 Pro OS.

Windows 10 Pro cannot handle the Threadripper 3990X well

Windows 10 Pro appears to be unable to handle all 128 threads of the chip. Windows 10 Home Edition can't officially handle more than 64, but Pro should technically be able to handle them.

How does Windows 10 Pro deal with the Threadripper 3990X? What the operating system does is divide the 128 threads into two groups of 64 each, which means that it impacts performance. Neither is it a solution to disable the SMT, with which we would be left with a total of 64 threads in the system of the 128 threads that we should have with the Threadripper 3990X.

The best solution is to use the Threadripper 3990X with more powerful operating systems that can handle a large number of threads. Fortunately Microsoft has two options for this case; Windows 10 Pro for Workstations and Windows 10 for Enterprise. Both operating systems are capable of handling CPUs of up to 256 cores.

Considering that the AMD Threadripper 3990X costs about $ 3, 990, those who can buy it will probably not be deterred by the small extra cost of an operating system capable of getting the most out of AMD's beast. We will keep you informed.
