Apparently, Microsoft has the technological advantage with its Xbox Series X over PlayStation 5, according to new leaks that seem to have been verified by Digital Foundry, which have a much greater relevance.

Xbox Series X would be more powerful and more expensive than PlayStation 5

Both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X are likely to arrive next year, but we still don't know much about the type of power that both systems will officially offer. We know that both systems will feature AMD's next-generation Zen 2 CPU and solid-state drives, but the most important specs have not been revealed. At least not officially.

Based on leaked specs, the PS5's Oberon chip will offer up to 36 Navi computing units running at 2.0 GHz, which would equate to a 9.2 teraflops GPU. The processor will also use GDDR6 memory, with a bandwidth of 448 GB / s and 512 GB / s. As previously discussed, the GPU will have three modes, allowing for hardware emulation of the PS4 and PS4 Pro.

The leaked information about the Xbox Series X GPU is much less exhaustive, but it appears that the chip has 3, 584 shaders, which would require a whopping 56 Navi compute units. Taking this number into account, DF estimates that Microsoft could be targeting 12 teraflops with its Arden chip. The Arden chip has also been confirmed to have a memory bandwidth of 560GB / s.

So yes, there's still a lot we don't know, but if these leaks are true, it appears Sony is trying to balance power with affordability, while Microsoft is targeting the hardware muscle above any other concerns. DF speculates that Sony could look to make the PlayStation 5 priced at $ 399, while the Xbox Series X would be priced higher, but how much cannot be calculated. 500 or 600 dollars maybe?

There is a possibility that Microsoft will release a less powerful and more affordable model codenamed Lockhart, although we still don't know much about its specs. We will keep you informed.
