Xiaomi Mi Band 2 vs Xiaomi Mi Band 3

The jump with the previous generation has not been as great as many expected. Although there are differences between the two bracelets of the Chinese brand. Therefore, we will talk to you in more detail about these differences between them.

Design

The first change that we can see in this regard is that of design. It is not a change that draws too much attention at first glance, but it is there. The OLED screen of the Xiaomi Mi Band 3 is larger than that of the Xiaomi Mi Band 2, 0.78 inches compared to 0.42 inches. It is a noticeable difference in size, which makes it easier to use, especially since this new model is tactile.

In addition, in this new generation, the screen is completely integrated into the bracelet, it is not something that can be removed. You can also see that the corners are somewhat more rounded. This results in a less flat design than last year's bracelet.

Features

The Xiaomi Mi Band 3 incorporates a series of new functions. On the one hand, the possibility of receiving calls and notifications from applications has been introduced, and now we will be able to respond. Something that was not possible in the previous model. So this is a major change in this regard for the bracelet. There are also changes in Bluetooth, which in this new model becomes version 4.2, compared to 4.0 for the Xiaomi Mi Band 2.

Possibly, the most outstanding novelty that comes to the bracelet is the NFC when this available version comes out in China. For the first time, an NFC sensor is inserted into one of the Chinese brand's bracelets. Although this sensor is only found in one of the two models of the Xiaomi Mi Band 3. But it is good that users have the option of choosing the model that has this possibility of making mobile payments.

Update: At the moment the version with NFC has not come out, but everything indicates that it will be compatible with the Chinese app.

Finally, the new generation of bracelets is completely waterproof. The previous generation had an IP67 certification, but in this new bracelet it has been increased to IP68. This means that we can swim or even dive using the bracelet without fear of damage. You can immerse it up to 50 meters.

Battery

One of the most important changes between the two bracelets refers to the battery. Since the size of it has been notably increased, so that there is a notable increase in the autonomy that it offers the user. The Xiaomi Mi Band 2 has a 70 mAh battery, which is not bad considering its small size.

Although with the arrival of the Xiaomi Mi Band 3, they have increased, going to a 110 mAh battery. Something that gives an autonomy of 20 days, as the Chinese brand says. It will be necessary to see the consumption that it has, since the OLED screen of the new bracelet is larger, which translates into greater consumption.

Price

As usual, Xiaomi bets on very low prices for its new bracelets. A price that makes them most interesting for users. In the case of the normal model of the Xiaomi Mi Band 3, the price is 23 euros to change, which is most accessible. The version with NFC is not yet available for sale, hopefully some firmware customizer will make it available with the applications in Spain, for now we have to wait.

These are prices similar to those that the Xiaomi Mi Band 2 hit the market. So despite the changes that have occurred between one generation and another, the Chinese brand has kept prices very low at all times.

Xiaomi Mi Band 2 VS Xiaomi Mi Band 3, which is better?

The differences between the two bracelets are not huge, but they are quite clear. It can be seen that there have been quite a few improvements in the Xiaomi Mi Band 3, which is a more current bracelet and better fits what the market is asking for today. So it is a better choice. Especially if features like calling or water resistance are of interest or importance to you.

But we can see that the two Chinese brand bracelets are good options. Especially since both give us functions such as monitoring physical activity in a simple way and are a simpler and lighter alternative to smartwatches.
