A large number of specter and meltdown-based malware have already been detected

It seems like we won't have to wait long to see the first Specter and Meltdown-based malware running. Hackers have already gone to work to prepare more than 100 threats based on these vulnerabilities.

119 threats based on Specter and Meltdown discovered

AV-Test researchers identified between January 7 and 22, 119 new types of malware related to Specter and Meltdown. Fortunately, they are tools that are still at a very early stage of development, so it will take us a while to have to worry about them, what's more, it is possible that many do not even come to fruition.

Intel publishes the list of processors affected by Specter and Meltdown

Specter and Meltdown are two very serious vulnerabilities and especially critical because they are present at the hardware level, which means that their complete elimination will never be possible in the processors that are already in the hands of the users, and those that will arrive in the coming months, because its elimination requires modifications at the silicon level.

While this is happening, both Microsoft and the manufacturers of motherboards and Intel and AMD, work against the current to offer users the best possible patches to protect them from these two serious vulnerabilities. AMD will solve it at the silicon level in the third generation Ryzen and Intel will do it later this year 2018.
