The Microsoft Band 2 would have a new design and would go on sale in Spain
We have known for some time now that Microsoft plans to launch a new version of the Microsoft Band, the quantifying bracelet / smartwatch that we were introduced to at the end of last year. Also for a few weeks we know that this Microsoft Band 2 will probably be launched on next October 6, in a special Microsoft event aimed at presenting new devices linked to Windows 10."
What we didn't know was how this Microsoft Band 2 would look like. At least until now, since the Microsoft Insider blog has leaked images of what appears to be a new version of the Band.
Among the improvements that the Microsoft Band 2 would introduce is a new designwith metallic finishes and a more ergonomic curvature, designed to better adapt to the shape of the hand and thus avoid repeating the criticisms received by the first version regarding how uncomfortable it was to use for some people.
The Microsoft Band 2 would also include physical buttons, and the same set of sensors that the current version includes (UV sensor, heart rate, GPS, ambient light, microphone, etc) but also adding a sensor to measure height and thus quantify the physical exercise we do when going up and down stairs.
The main novelties would be a new design together with a sensor to measure the exercise when climbing stairsAlthough it does not appear to include NFC, the possibility of using the Band to pay at Starbucks using a barcode system will remain. The leak also makes no reference to the Band 2's operating system, leaving the possibility of it using Windows 10 for IoT on hold.
Yes, the distribution of the Microsoft Band 2 would be much broader than that of the first version, allowing to be purchased directly in European countries such as Spain , France, Italy and Germany, although it is not yet known if it will be for sale in Latin America.
We will have to be attentive to the event on October 6 to find out if all these leaks are confirmed, or if there is any difference with respect to the final product that Microsoft will present to us.
