The Acer Aspire VX 15 arrives in a standard-sized black cardboard box. On its cover we can see in large letters the exact model that we have acquired. How eager to touch it! We continue!

The Acer Aspire VX 15 is a laptop with standard dimensions of 38.9 x 26.6 x 2.9 cm and a weight of 2.5 kg. Its design is really attractive and quite aggressive. It has a brushed aluminum structure in black and two red stripes. Its concept of laptop is more similar to that of a laptop of 2000 euros instead of 1000 euros.

It has a 15.6-inch (39.6 cm) screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels (Full HD) and 141 PPI. We have been surprised that it incorporates an IPS panel 16: 9 that blacks are hardly affected and with very vivid colors. It seems to me a very successful option for those users who like to play but also use their laptop for graphic design or photo retouching.

Among its connections we find a kensington blocker, the power connection, a USB connection, a 3 in 1 SD card reader and a minijack input / output.

While on the other side we come across an RJ45 connection. one HDMI connection, two USB 3.0 connections, and one USB 3.1 Type C connection.

While in the rear area we find the two fans that are responsible for expelling all the hot air given off by the internal components of the laptop.

The CHICLET keyboard has red LED lighting this time, which we find quite interesting, since we can activate or deactivate it as we like. Although many people think that lighting is "overrated", we believe that for a laptop keyboard it gives a lot of life in night situations. The effect is very good and 100% recommended in this equipment.

It also has a quality touchpad, which is a luxury with the variety of movement and its ease of movement with it. Another success on the part of Acer.

Now we look at the bottom area of the laptop. And we find six zones that are dedicated to expelling air from louvers to improve ventilation. As we can see in the image, to access its interior we have to remove the entire rear cover, which we have to be very careful, since it could invalidate the warranty.

As for the processor we find an i7 7700HQ of the FCBGA 1440 platform with 4 cores and 8 threads based on the Kaby Lake architecture at a frequency of 2.6GHz and a turbo frequency of 3.5 GHz with a TDP of 45W. It has a total of 16 GB of DDR4 SODIMM RAM in dual channel mode. It is very important that whenever we have a PC it has at least Dual channel to get the most out of our system.

Acer has chosen to combine Toshiba's signed 256GB SSD M.2 format drive (THNSNK256GVN8) with rates of 545MB / s (read) and write of 388MB / s and additionally a 1TB 2 hard drive, 5 inches to store all our information and heavier files.

The graphics section incorporates the interesting Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 graphics card that measures up to 720 and 1080p resolution. It has a total of 640 CUDA Cores accompanied by 2 GB of GDDR5 memory with a 128-bit interface and a TDP of 75 W. With these specifications we can play any game with medium / high filters in Full HD. Also gutter with a 3-cell battery that will perfectly give us an autonomy of 4-5 euros depending on the situation.

Test of performance

The Acer Aspire VX 15 incorporates software that allows us to check the state of our system, if the battery is in good condition, if there are new drivers, to perform a system recovery or to perform a performance test on our laptop.

Regarding performance tests we have passed Cinebench R15 and the result is 736 CB points. Excellent performance!

You can also see the performance of the M.2 SATA disk that the laptop incorporates. Offering the rates and readings that the manufacturer (Toshiba) of the SSD disk promises us and your DDR4 SODIMM memory tests. Finally, we have chosen to only pass the games to the native resolution: 1920 x 1080 (Full HD) so you can see what good performance it offers as is.

Final words and conclusion about Acer Aspire VX 15

The Acer Aspire VX 15 is positioned as one of the best casual gaming laptop alternatives. Offering very good color fidelity thanks to its IPS panel and great performance with its Intel Kaby Lake 7700HQ processor.

In our tests we have been able to verify that it is capable of moving almost any game to + 50 FPs with high filters, and in high performance tasks it measures up like a desktop computer. Its red LED backlit keyboard and more than remarkable surround sound, makes it a very tough rival for the rest of the rivals.

The only downside we find is that loudness is somewhat high when we have a good time with it at maximum performance. Surely in future updates or new models they will improve this aspect. Still, it falls within normal limits.

Its store price ranges from 800 to 1050 euros, depending on the model (i5 or i7, RAM, SSD, GPU…). It has left us a great taste in our mouths and if we had a limited budget it would surely be our favorite option. A 100% recommended purchase. Good work Acer!
