Adata talks about ssd m.3: bigger dimensions to satisfy business customers
Table of contents:
We are all quite used to the M.2 SSD format, and specifically those that make use of the NVMe interface. They are the famous 'ultrafast SSDs' that reach breakneck speeds. However, we are already beginning to see what the M.3 units will be. What will be special about it?
M.3 SSD: size does matter
One of the biggest limitations of the M.2 format. they are its small dimensions. As seen in the photo above, the size is so small that it would fit at least two in the palm of one hand. While this is good for use on small-format devices, the number of memory chips that can be used in a single module is relatively low.
The M.3 format comes to solve this problem with a maximum length of 30.5mm in contrast to the 22mm of the M.2, and a greater width. Thus, in addition to being able to include memory chips larger in size and capacity, it will also be possible to use larger controllers and more security features such as capacitors that protect against power cuts. This new format would use the exact same connector and would have the same compatibilities as M.2 disks.
Other features that it supports are the hotplug, that is, connecting and disconnecting the disk without the need for a restart, AES 256-bit encryption and end-to-end encryption.
The manufacturer will give more data at the next Flash Memory Summit 2018, a memory manufacturers market convention to be held from August 7 to 9, come on, in a week. Certainly, Samsung has already talked about this format, which does not mean that the information that ADATA has given is quite interesting.
Finally, keep in mind that having already a consumer M.2 SSD with up to 2TB, which cost almost 1, 000 euros, it is totally clear that this format will be destined for professional uses such as data centers, so they are probably limited to such applications, without appearing at any time in the domestic market. We won't see it in a few years, at least…
Guru3DTechpowerup source (image M.2)Why won't laptops come with bigger ssd this year?
With a shortage of NAND flash chips due to the strong demand for these types of drives, this would make the price of SSDs more expensive.
Samsung galaxy note 8, bigger and more powerful than the fleeting note 7
The new Galaxy Note 8 would increase the size of the screen compared to the failed Galaxy Note 7, with a size of 6.4 inches.
Vega 10 is not the largest amd gpu but it is bigger than nvidia's gp102
Vega 10 is confirmed not to be the largest graphics core manufactured by AMD, it's still bigger than Nvidia's GP102.
