Some nvidia shield tablets have battery problems

Nvidia has announced that some of its Shield tablets have a battery problem and are at risk of catching fire so the company will replace those units that have the problem. Specifically, the affected units were sold between July 2014 and July 2015.

How to know if my Nvidia Shield has the problem?

If you bought an Nvidia Shield tablet within the period of time indicated above, your unit may have the problem in the battery, to find out you just have to follow a few simple steps:

1. Make sure you have the latest NVIDIA Shield Tablet software update (July 1, 2015). Then you must go to Settings and once there enter "About this tablet". You just need to select Status and in the category of "Battery" you will see Y01 or B01.

If you have the B01 version your battery does not present any problem, however if you have the Y01 version it runs the risk of catching fire so you should request the replacement of your Shield Tablet.

What if my Nvidia Shield has the problem?

If you have version Y01 you can request replacement from the Shield Tablet itself, this function is only available in the latest version of the software, so it is vitally important that you have your tablet updated.

To request the replacement you must go to the page that Nvidia has created for this purpose and fill in the data to obtain the “Claim number” that you must enter on your Shield Tablet to request the change.
