Spanish football could live a new chapter never seen before. It could stop broadcasting on the usual channels where it has for the past 20 years. Two multinationals like Amazon and Facebook want to attend the next auction organized by the LFP to award the contract for the 2019/2020 season. Both companies have shown their interest.

This interest has also been confirmed by Javier Tebas. According to the president, it is expected to obtain 2.3 billion euros for this new contract to broadcast the matches of the Spanish league. It is expected that 1.3 billion will be paid for the 38 days and an additional 1, 000 for broadcasting the matches outside of Spain.

Regular companies such as Atresmedia, Mediaset, Orange, Movistar or MediaPro have already shown interest. So it is most likely that they will participate in this auction, although some have expressed their dissatisfaction with exorbitant prices. But, the arrival of new channels in the market, the competition is greater. That is why companies like Amazon, Facebook or even Netflix come to soccer. And they do it with huge budgets. So they have possibilities.

Facebook has been trying to get sports broadcast rights for some time. They tried it months ago with the cricket league in India. Although, they have obtained the emission rights of the American baseball league and world surfing championship. While Amazon offers a streaming game of the NFL every Thursday.

Everything indicates that both companies are also bidding for the Premier League emission rights. So it seems that Amazon and Facebook are determined to conquer European sport as well. Will they succeed?
