With Ryzen 3000 just around the corner, leaks on companion parts for these processors are booming. If a few days ago we were talking about AMD X570 boards, today we will see rumors about the possible AMD B550 and A520.

The dilemma of the new generation

We've covered it in plenty of other news and articles already: The new Ryzen 3000 processors bring new technologies like PCIe Gen 4 to the scene. The problem with this is that, as is common, most components do not support these benefits.

The standard change will last for several years and will not be instantaneous, as expected. However, we have the option of not adhering if we choose to buy an AMD 400 or 300 line motherboard (this second is not highly recommended). In exchange for more modest prices, we will not be able to use PCIe Gen 4. However, everything else like graphics, processor or RAM will work just as well.

Well, this is when the AMD B550 and A520 come in, next generation motherboards with some of the new technologies for more affordable prices. According to the DigiTimes portal, the company ASMedia is working on them and will send them to be created in late 2019 . If this is true, we could be seeing AMD B550 and A520 motherboards for early or mid 2020 .

These new motherboards will replace the current AMD B450 and A320 and will not only bring PCIe Gen 4, but also other improvements than the generational update. We hope that, by inheriting the requirements of AMD PCBs , we will also have PCIe 4.0 × 16 for discrete graphics, as well as VRMs (Voltage Regulation Modules, in Spanish) of Best Quality.

We do not have a confirmation date or starting price, but we expect them to leave for the first or second quarter of 2020 , with prices around € 60-100.

How much do you think the new boards will come out for? Would you rather buy the AMD B550 and A520 or an X470 of the next generation? Tell us your ideas below.
