The first quarter of 2016 has brought joy to an AMD that has seen its market share increase by 29.4 percent +3.2 quarter-on-quarter participation points after increasing sales by 6.69%. According to Mercury Research, this increase is due, on the one hand, to the strength of the latest Radeon R9 GPUs and, on the other hand, to AMD's new controller development strategy, which has helped the company gain 1.8 points of participation in discrete desktop graphics (22.7 percent, +1.8 quarter-to-quarter participation points) and an impressive jump of 7.3 participation points in discrete notebooks, going to a 38.7 percent share of this important market.

The trend should continue with the imminent announcement of the new GPUs based on the promising Polaris architecture manufactured in 14nm and the advance to the month of October of Vega, the successor architecture of the Fiji GPU with HBM 2 memory and that will give life to the new Radeon more powerful and that will stand up to the best of Nvidia Pascal.
