With the launch of AMD's Radeon RX 5700 series and, to a lesser extent, Nvidia's RTX Super series, the situation for the Radeon VII became very difficult due to its high cost. Navi's architectural improvements and Nvidia's RTX Super affordability have destroyed the possibilities of this proposition and AMD seems to understand it this way.

AMD Radeon VII would no longer have a reason to be with the arrival of the RX 5700 XT

A Cowcotland report has stated that AMD's Radeon VII has reached the end of its useful life, with production ceasing by AMD. This is not surprising given what has been mentioned above, although it is information that will have to be taken with tweezers because this publication has already been denied at some other time by AMD. That said, AMD's Radeon VII has served its purpose and no longer holds a valid position in the gaming market as it cannot reliably outperform the Radeon RX 5700 XT.

Today, the Radeon VII can only be recommended for specific workloads, especially those that require graphics cards that offer VRAM's colossal 16GB frame rate buffer. This makes the Radeon VII more suitable for workstations, although 8GB of VRAM is still more than enough for most workloads.

With its Navi-based RX 5700 XT, AMD can deliver more performance than the Radeon VII in some workloads, consuming less power and using a more affordable GDDR6- based memory system.

At the moment, AMD has not come out to confirm or deny this information. We will keep you informed.
