It looks like AMD is not going to sit idly by while NVIDIA releases its new GTX 20 or GTX 11 graphics cards later this year. The Sunnyvale company would be preparing a counterattack in the GPU sector with a new series nicknamed Radeon RX 500X.

RX 500X would be between 5 and 6% faster than the RX 500 series

Just by the name we can imagine that it would be an updated series of the current RX 500 (RX 580 - 570 - etc.) to try to bridge the gap with new NVIDIA releases in the mid and low range.

This year will be much calmer for new graphics card releases as NVIDIA will lead and continue to dominate with the GTX 11 (or GTX 20) series that will usher in GDDR6 memory, but what about AMD?

According to industry sources, AMD will launch a new family of the Radeon RX 500X series, which should be around 5-6% faster than the RX 500 series. This updated series would not offer anything new at the silicon level, but we assume It would improve energy consumption and temperatures, which, in turn, should help increase frequencies.

Currently in the high-end, AMD has the RX VEGA series, but where it sells the most is with the RX 500 series. New updated and optimized cards could be a smart move, as they prepare for successors to the VEGA series.

AMD will reportedly launch the Radeon RX 500X series between June and July.
