Amd will launch nolan and amur in 2015
AMD has tried with little success to penetrate the juicy tablet market with its x86 SoCs, the company does not give up and is preparing an x86-based successor to Mullins called Nolan and another ARM core-based alternative called Amur.
AMD Nolan is Beema's replacement and will arrive in 2015 with a 20nm manufacturing process in an attempt to carve out a niche for itself in the juicy tablet market. On the other hand we have AMD Amur that unlike Nolan is based on ARM Cortex A57 cores and should also arrive in 2015 manufactured in 20nm. Nolan will offer support for Android and Windows while Amur will support Linux and Android. Of course both SoCs will have GCN graphics, probably 2.0 belonging to Pirate Islands.
AMD could have increased its interest in the tablet market after the capabilities of the Tegra K1 chip have been demonstrated and let's not forget that it is the only one that has a graphic alternative capable of standing up to Nvidia's Kepler.
