AMD appears to be preparing a special variant of the Ryzen 7 2700X processor to celebrate its 50th anniversary. The year 2019 marks the 50th anniversary of AMD, which was founded in 1969 and has been one of the pioneers in the world of computing.

AMD prepares a new Ryzen 7 2700X 50th Anniversary Edition

To celebrate this event, AMD will shortly launch its new generation of Ryzen 3000 series processors, which are based on the latest 7nm Zen 2 architecture. They'll certainly be much faster and more efficient than current 12nm + Zen + based Ryzen 2000 processors, but that doesn't stop the Red Team from launching a special anniversary edition model of one of their most popular processors.

The unreleased AMD Ryzen 7 2700X 50th Anniversary Edition processor was listed in an online store. Unfortunately the specs for the processor are not revealed, but it will most likely be the last to be released by AMD with a 12nm + node, before making the final leap towards 7nm.

The processor was listed at a price of $ 340.95, which is a presale price. The store would be receiving a total of 1, 200 units, so it would not be a 'limited edition' because it is too high an amount for a single store. The processor is likely to continue to be produced in smaller quantities than the Ryzen 7 2700X due to its proximity to Ryzen 3000 series processors, which are slated for release in mid-2019.

If we have to speculate on specs, the AMD Ryzen 7 2700X 50th Anniversary Edition is likely to keep its 8 cores and 16 threads. The news could come from the frequency side. The 'normal' model that we find in stores today has a base frequency of 3.7 GHz and reaches 4.3GHz. Knowing this, perhaps we will find a model that reaches 4.5 GHz or more.

Lastly, the processor is sold alongside the Wraith Prism heatsink, the same as the base model. We will keep you informed.
