Last week word spread that AMD is about to launch a special Ryzen 7 2700X to mark the company's 50th anniversary, with several retailers listing the chip (under the number YD270XBGAFA50) for availability on April 30, the day before AMD's 50th anniversary.

AMD Anniversary Ryzen 7 2700X is available for pre-order

A stock of 500 units have appeared in the American retail store Compsource with a price of $ 347.95. Connection.com has also listed some of the specs for these AMD Special Edition processors.

Unsurprisingly, the new anniversary edition chips come with the same 8-core, 16-wire design as the original Ryzen 7 2700X, but according to the list, this new chip also comes with the same base and boost frequencies. Due to the nature of the first product listings, these specifications could become erroneous. If the list is correct, the only difference in the 50th Anniversary 2700X model could be in the packaging, the engraving, or a commemorative certificate, but we are sure that AMD will include some kind of additional incentive, with higher factory frequencies, or so we believe.

The list also claims that the new 2700X includes the same support for dual-channel DDR4-2933 and 16MB of L3 cache, which is not entirely surprising. The Wraith Prism LED Cooler is also included. Connection.com lists 500 of the chips in stock, which we are sure will sell quickly, with a shipping date of April 23.

We look forward to AMD's official announcement in the coming days.
