AMD is begging to introduce its new Fiji GPU-equipped graphics card to the world. Rumors suggest that Fiji will finally be mounted on the AMD Radeon Fury and that the Radeon R300 will be nothing more than a rebranding of the GPUs currently on the market with GCN architecture, especially the Radeon R200 series.

AMD Fiji will be the first GPU to make use of the high-performance stacked memory HBM so there is much expectation to see what it is capable of and if it will be a tough rival for Nvidia and its GM200 chip present in the GTX 980Ti and the TITAN X.

AMD CEO Lisa Su has shown the new Fiji GPU at Computex, it is a large chip, as expected, with a 50 x 50mm packaging. The use of HBM memory in Fiji allows the PCB of the graphics card to be much shorter than what we are used to seeing in higher-end drives, this is because the memory has been moved to the packaging of the GPU and also takes up a lot less space than the same amount of GDDR5.

In this way, the AMD Fiji GPU will be surrounded by four HBM memory stacks with an interface of 1, 024 bits each, which will add up to a total of 4, 096 bits and an unprecedented bandwidth in graphics cards, approximately 640 GB / s.

AMD Radeon Fury should be released to the world in approximately two weeks.
