The new AMD Navi graphics architecture looks set to make the leap to the workstation market very soon.

AMD Navi may have three graphics cards in preparation for workstations

As Phronix reported, a couple of AMDGPU Linux kernel DRM driver patches reveal the device IDs of three different workstation graphics cards that are reportedly based on the silicon of the Navi 14.

We learned about the existence of Navi 14 through a Linux driver in June. An alleged Navi 14 graphics card with 24 calculation units (CU) and 4 GB of memory appeared a month later. Today's sighting is the first time that the Navi 14 silicon has been associated with a workstation product, far removed from the market for regular gamers.

The patch description specifically states that Device IDs 0x7341, 0x734, and 0x734F are for workstation SKUs. Interestingly, the 0x734F device in particular refers to WKS SKU Pro-XLM, which we have not seen or heard until today. The Navi 14 chip is expected to be the lowest variant of the Navi family and power AMD staples like the Radeon RX 5500 or RX 5600 series. Therefore, it is reasonable to suspect that the three new Navi 14 device IDs represent inexpensive graphics cards for workstations.

Let's not forget that AMD also has other things on the horizon for workstation users. The chipmaker is said to be working on Arcturus, which is apparently shaping up to be a Vega-based graphics card, potentially built on an improved 7nm manufacturing process, perhaps the 7nm + node.

AMD has been feeding us information through AMDGPU patches for a while. We hope that the chipmaker will continue this practice and that we can soon learn exactly what AMD is planning, especially for Navi and its RX Radeon series.
