Both Summit Ridge and Bristol Ridge processors are based on a SoC design, so most of the logic has been moved along with the die of the processor itself. Despite this, AMD still maintains a chipset on the motherboard to add Sata ports, USB, and general-purpose PCI Express connectivity. The new X370 chipset should offer advanced USB 3.1 ports with 10Gb / s bandwidth, Sata 6Gb / s ports, M.2 and U.2 slots, and finally the aforementioned general-purpose PCI Express connectivity. This chipset is also expected to be ready to support multi-GPU configurations.
