On the biggest stage of all, CES 2019, numerous laptops featuring AMD's Ryzen and Radeon technology have been unveiled . Well-known manufacturers such as Asus or Lenovo have presented new equipment that assembles this technology, although it is true that they are models that compete in the entry range, it will be very useful for multimedia and office tasks, with optimal battery consumption.

The new laptops will be placed in the entry range

AMD's Ryzen technology has been brutally successful on Datacenter's high-end gaming desktops and servers. On the other hand, for the field of Laptops, the result is quite different, since we did not find too many models that implement this technology.

It seems that this is changing too, since many manufacturers have decided on a model that, even being an entry-level model, is well worth exploring. These teams will surely have a very attractive sale price and will provide a performance suitable for common defects such as office automation, multimedia and occasional games in some models. Let's see them.

DELL presents the Inspiron 5000 15 and 5000 14 2 in 1 models

We start with DELL and its two models, which will compete in the mid and entry range. The DELL Inspiron 5000 15 is equipped with a 4-core, 8-wire Ryzen 35000U, alongside 512-shader Radeon Vega 8 graphics. In addition, it has 32 GB of DDR4 RAM, 512 GB SSD and a 1 TB hard drive. This laptop could clearly be placed in a mid-range, although it has a lot of RAM in the other sections it is quite discreet . In terms of games, it will be a little more fair with its graphic core, so it is indicated for multimedia and workstation.

The second model is the Inspiron 5000 14 2-in-1, equipped with a 4-core, 8-wire Ryzen 7 3700U, and Vega 10 graphics with 640 shaders. It also has 16 GB of DDR4 RAM, 256 GB SSD and a 2 TB HDD. This model is more compact than the previous one and features higher graphics and processing performance, but less memory and a smaller SSD, which also places it in a mid-range.

Acer, Lenovo and Asus also bet on Ryzen

For its part, Acer also showed a new model called Acer Nitro 5 with Ryzen 5 2500U and Radeon RX 560X GPU. Along with an 8 GB RAM, 256 SSD, IPS screen and backlit keyboard. This configuration is more oriented to basic gaming with dedicated graphics, although not a very innovative CPU. Its place will be the entry-level gaming range.

Lenovo has also unveiled its Lenovo Yoga 530 with a 14-inch display and Ryzen 3 2200U processor with configurable TDP from 12 to 25W alongside Vega 3 graphics from 192 shaders. This has 4 GB of DDR4 RAM and 128 GB SSD, which means that it is also a fairly discreet model and oriented to daily tasks, although we assume that it has a very adjusted consumption and a good price.

We turn to the Asus TUF Gaming FX505DY, an entry-level gaming device with a 4-core, 8-wire Ryzen 5 3550H with 35W consumption, Radeon RX 560X, 16GB DDR4 and 512 SSD. The fact of having dedicated graphics and good benefits in general, will be a good team to throw some games at undemanding and basic online games.

HP, Honor and Samsung also join with their new AMD laptops

The list of laptops ends with these three unusual manufacturers at AMD. The Honor MagicBook mounts a 4-core, 8-wire Ryzen 5 2500U processor with Vega 8 graphics with 512 shaders, with 8GB DDR4 and in this case a 256GB NVMe SSD. This equipment is interesting for daily tasks and occasional and not too new games, since it does not have a dedicated GPU.

The Samsung Book 7 has a dual- core, 4-core Ryzen 5 2200U with 192 shader Vega 3 graphics, 8GB DDR4, and 128GB SSD. Well, another one for the entry range list with fairly discreet features.

Finally we end up with two HP laptops. The models called Chromebooks mount an APU A6 9220C at 2.7 GHz, with Radeon 5 graphics and an A4 9120C at 2.6 GHz, with Radeon 4 graphics respectively. So we see both APUs build on AMD's previous dual-core Excavator architecture. We do not understand very well the objective of these two laptops, although it is true that they will fulfill the typical tasks of a home user.

With this we finish the list of new models with AMD in their guts. Nothing is known about prices or availability, but it should not take long to be available for sale. What do you think is the best model? And at what price do you see an acquisition of this type viable?
