In a previous article we published that AMD would be presented on June 1 at Computex in Taiwan to present its new graphics cards based on Polaris and also the new models of low-power APU processors. A few hours ago we were able to access detailed information on what these processors will be and what performance they will offer.

New APUs promise 50% more performance

The AMD APU processors are specially prepared to work with very low power consumption but offering good computing power, even for less demanding games. The new generation of these processors will be called Bristol Ridge and they come to replace the " Carrizo " line launched last year. In total there will be six new processors, with models of 2 and 4 cores.

AMD claims that the new "Bristol Ridge" APU processors will be 50% more powerful than the Kaveri generation (released in 2014) and that the integrated GPU will offer 20% more performance than the "Carrizo" APU processor. The graphics will use GCN 3.0 and the processor will have support for DDR4 Dual-Channel memories.

Bristol Ridge will require AM4 motherboards

Keep in mind that from this 7th generation of "Bristol Ridge" APUs, a new motherboard with AM4 support will be needed, also valid for the new AMD Zen processors. So far there are no official news about when they will start The first AM4 motherboards will be marketed but it is speculated with the last quarter of this year along with AMD Zen processors that will compete with Intel's high-performance options.

It only remains to wait until June 1st to know what prices will be on sale.
