Amd publishes list of heatsinks compatible with ryzen threadripper and epyc
Table of contents:
AMD has officially released a list of heatsink models that we can find on the market today and that are suitable for use with its new Ryzen Threadripper and EPYC processors, the company's new beasts for the HEDT market and servers.
Heatsinks compatible with Ryzen Threadripper and EPYC
Ryzen Threadripper and EPYC are characterized by having a huge size, so the surface of the IHS is very large and not all the heatsinks available on the market can adequately cover it. The socket arrangement is also very different so heatsink manufacturers will have to provide specific retention kits in order to use their compatible models.
Ryzen Threadripper TDP and cache size confirmed
AMD itself will provide an Asetek retention kit in the Threadripper processor box, this will make it possible to use many of the liquids available on the market today, since Asetek is the manufacturer of almost all of them. All of these heatsinks compatible with the retention kit provided by AMD itself are included in the list of compatible models.
There may be other compatible models that are not included in the list, so A MD recommends contacting brands to ask if a compatible adapter will be available or not. On the other hand, the main manufacturers of heatsinks are already working at top speed to make available to users new models adapted to the new AMD processors.
