With the latest AMD Radeon Adrenalin 2020 controllers, the red company added a new functionality called Radeon Boost. Although this information is not new, it is the performance gain that AMD promises when activated.

AMD Radeon Boost promises good performance gains on Poalris, Vega, and Navi GPUs

Through a post on the official page, AMD makes it clear what the performance gain we can expect with Radeon Boost technology.

AMD shows the performance results in three video games, Tomb Raider, PUBG and Overwatch. In Rise of the Tomb Raider you see a 10% performance gain, in PUBG it goes up to 22% more performance and in Overwatch this goes up to 38%. On average, AMD calculates, the performance gain is 23% with Radeon Boost, although not much is detailed about the testing methodology, so that 23% should be taken with some caution.

What Radeon Boost does is dynamically lower the resolution of the entire frame when rapid image movements occur. By reducing the resolution, you gain performance in those time slices, and it doesn't have much of an impact on overall image quality.

Radeon Boost compatibility includes Windows 7 and 10. Hardware compatibility includes from the RX 400 series and the new consumer dGPUs, Ryzen 2000 and the new APUs, including hybrid and detachable graphics configurations. There is no support for mGPU. That is, all Polaris graphics cards onwards support the technology, which helps improve performance.

Probably the only complaint about Radon Boost is the blurring of the image at the time, which can be somewhat annoying for some players. We will keep you informed.
