The new AMD Radeon RX 480M graphics card is characterized mainly by offering an excellent level of energy efficiency thanks to the use of a Polaris 11 silicon. The new card will have a total of 16 CU with a TDP of just 35W. All this possible thanks to its manufacturing process at 14 nm FinFET and that will allow laptops with a very respectable power at the same time as a very adjusted power consumption that will result in little heat generation.
It certainly looks like a huge leap forward compared to the Radeon R9 280M which has an 82W TDP and very similar features with the same 16 CUs resulting in 896 stream processors, 56 TMUs and 16 ROPs.
AMD is doing very well with its new generation of Polaris graphics cards, hopefully the Summit Ridge Zen- based processors will also live up to the demands and live a beautiful price war that does nothing but benefit consumers.
