We already have new information on the new AMD Ryzen 2 processors, also known by their code name Pinnacle Ridge. These new silicons will go on sale throughout next March along with the 400 series motherboards.

Ryzen 2 will be with us very soon

Everything indicates that the presentation of the Ryzen 2 processors will take place next February, although we will have to wait until sometime in March to find them for sale in the main stores. Along with these new processors will come the 400 series motherboards, among them we will find the high-end X470 chipset and the mid-range B450 chipset, for now the arrival of a third entry-level chipset is not expected. Despite this, the new processors will be able to be used without problems in the current 300 series motherboards with a BIOS update.

Pinnacle Ridge will arrive under a 12nm FinFET manufacturing process to achieve higher operating frequencies, however power consumption will not increase. These new Ryzen 2 will continue to use the AM4 socket, AMD has already warned that this socket will last until 2020, so everything seems to indicate that they will keep their promise. These new 400 series motherboards should come with all the problems of the first generation solved, remember that when the current Ryzen arrived there were many compatibility problems with the RAM memories, something that has been gradually solved although the compatibility is still it is not perfect.

Finally we highlight that the 400 series will also be compatible with Raven Ridge APUs, just like the current 300 series boards.
