Although the third generation AMD Ryzen chips are not characterized by facilitating overclocking, a pro-overclocker (Tsaik) has managed to reach very high frequencies with the Ryzen 7 3800X using LN2. The 8-core processors were able to achieve 5.9 GHz using an MSI motherboard.

Ryzen 7 3800X reaches 5.9 GHz with LN2

The default values for this processor are, of course, 3.9 base and 4.5 GHz turbo. Looking at the results, the sixth core is recorded at a speed of exactly 5911.3 MHz, using a multiplier of 59 and a bus speed of 100.19 MHz.

The screenshots show a CPU voltage of 1.1 volts. On the other hand, the memory also works well, at 5774 MHz. All of this worked on an MSI X570 Godlike motherboard, one of the best motherboards to be released alongside AMD's Ryzen (Zen 2) series on July 7..

The Ryzen 7 3800X was released as an 8-core, 16-wire chip with a maximum Turbo frequency of 3.9 GHz. With this extreme overclocking, frequencies of 5.9 GHz were achieved. Although the frequencies are extremely high, it does not break any record and is far from that achieved by other processors. We may see further attempts at extreme overclocking with other chips in the series, to see what their limits are.

The Ryzen 7 3800X is currently priced at € 440 in Spain and is sold with it with a Wraith Prism fan.
