Amd over intel: it is a strong rival, but we are used to it
Table of contents:
AMD CTO Mark Papemaster has spoken about Intel and the historical rivalry between the two. We show you all the details inside.
AMD and Intel have always been at odds over the fierce struggle of processors. Each year, both have to present their best letters to the market, something that Intel has achieved for almost all of history. Since Ryzen's departure in 2017, it appears that it has gained a lot of ground from Intel, but it still gains Intel, if only for less. We tell you everything below.
AMD on Intel: "They are strong rivals, but we are used to it"
And it is not for less, since AMD has been the second option for consumers and companies for many years. The time in the shadow of Intel has come to an end, being able to convince companies and individuals about the benefits of Ryzen, EPYC and Threadripper. We have been seeing how AMD is winning Intel in the bid for chips for supercomputers and servers for a few months.
Mark PaperMaster, CTO of AMD, spoke about the rivalry between the two companies:
Our rivals are strong, but AMD workers have a strong fighting spirit and have been used to competing for years.
According to Mark, customer feedback over the years has been key for people to trust AMD's future. PaperMaster worked at IBM, Apple and Cisco prior to his arrival at AMD in 2011. He considers that Lisa Su, in her interview, never despised the rival.
Even though Intel is heavily criticized for its 14nm and 10nm nodes, it remains stable and its market share is higher than AMD's. It is true that the latter has scratched a few percentages in recent years, but Intel remains stable for many. At the moment, AMD offers 7nm, excellent performance and a more than reasonable acquisition price.
