Amd threadripper 3990x again shows its superiority over xeon

New Ryzen Threadripper 3990X benchmarks have appeared, showing that the HEDT chip outperforms rival Intel's Xeon Scalable 'Cascade Lake' processors. The benchmarks are from the SiSoftware database, where the first performance entry for AMD's iconic 64-core consumer chip has appeared.
AMD Threadripper 3990X again shows its superiority against Xeon Platinum 8280
The AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3990X would be the flagship HEDT processor for 2020, offering 64 Zen 2 cores and 128 threads. The processor has 288 MB of total cache, tons of PCIe Gen 4 tracks (~ 128), and a 280W TDP. The TDP is surprisingly low for a 64-core piece. As such, the Ryzen Threadripper 3990X features a 2.90 GHz base clock and a 4.3 GHz single-core boost clock. The base clock is 100 MHz slower than the 32-core Ryzen Threadripper 2990WX, but the 100 MHz base clock is higher than its predecessor.
In the latest series of tests, the chip scored an impressive 1, 786.22 GOPS in the arithmetic test, beating the dual Xeon Platinum 8280 configuration by 17.8%. The CPU also managed to maintain an operating frequency of 4.35 GHz at the same benchmark, which is very impressive for a 64-core piece that operates within a 280W TDP. AMD has also previously shown figures where a Ryzen Threadripper 3990X is capable of overcoming the same dual Xeon configuration by up to 30%.

The main thing to consider here is that while each Xeon Platinum 8280 has 28 cores and 56 threads, making a total of 56 cores and 112 threads on the 2S platform, each chip is worth $ 10, 000, which is significantly higher than the Ryzen Threadripper 3990X that would go on to sell for $ 4, 000.
Rumors indicate that Intel has delayed the Cooper Lake and Ice Lake Xeon processors for a few months (3-month program change) and there are also reports that they would be announcing major price cuts and CPU repositioning in the second half of 2020.. We will keep you informed.
