AGESA is practically the main BIOS code for AMD motherboards that allows Ryzen and Threadripper processors to work, which is why it is vitally important for the AM4 platform to work properly. The current build is 1.0.0.6 but AMD is already working on AGESA 1.0.0.7 to support Raven Ridge processors whose release is getting closer.

AGESA 1.0.0.7 paves the way for Raven Ridge

AGESA 1.0.0.7 comes with support for Raven Ridge APUs that combine Zen cores with Vega graphics. AMD has also changed the entire base structure of the BIOS, so a lot of work has to be done to transfer everything to the new version, which can lead to more errors. The advantage is that it facilitates compatibility with future CPUs such as the mentioned Raven Ridge and Pinnacle Ridge. The cold start solution will be implemented as soon as we have a recent AGESA version to back it up.

For all this it is quite clear that AGESA 1.0.0.7 will be a massive revision in which it is very likely that the compatibility problems of the Zen architecture with the RAM memory modules will be solved, which are getting smaller but still exist.

AMD announces AGESA 1.0.0.6, support for memories up to 4000 MHz
