The Ryzen 2000 processors will be based on a new silicon named Pinnacle Ridge and manufactured by GF at 12nm FinFET, this will be the same silicon that will be used in the new generation of Ryzen Threadripper, which are already being developed.

There will be new Pinnacle Ridge based Ryzen Threadrippers

Using the new Pinnacle Ridge silicon will allow AMD to create a new generation of Threadripper processors with improved energy efficiency, thereby achieving superior performance without increased power consumption. These new processors will continue to be compatible with current motherboards based on the X399 chipset, although this will require a BIOS update.

We recommend reading our post on Best processors on the market (February 2018)

In addition to higher operating frequencies, Pinnacle Ridge is expected to include some optimizations at the design level, mainly in the memory controller that has been one of the weaknesses of the first generation of Ryzen. Threadripper has been a very successful product of the company, since it offers great benefits for the professional sector at prices much more adjusted than the competition, this success will make AMD launch a new generation every year.

We will have to wait until 2019 for the arrival of new models based on Zen 2, these if they will have much deeper changes at the microarchitecture level and will arrive manufactured at 7 nm.
