Bluetooth is one of the most widely used wireless technologies to connect devices such as wearables, headphones, trackers, accessories and even some smart home devices, with each other without having to connect to Wi-Fi networks or other types of networks. However, it is also one of the most inconvenient technologies to use, especially when pairing two devices. That's why Google is committed to making your Android Fast Pair pairing easier, faster, and more available.

Google wants to make its Android Fast Pair even better

Connecting two Bluetooth-enabled devices is often a multi-step process. Fast Pair, which was announced over a year ago, eliminates some steps by making pairing almost automatic. Simply put the Bluetooth accessory in pairing mode and accept the confirmation that appears on your Android phone. Almost like WPS but for Bluetooth.

The problem with that new technology is that it doesn't magically happen for existing devices. It can only be supported by newer ones and accessory manufacturers will have to make the effort to add it. So far, there have only been a few Fast Pair-enabled devices, like the new Jaybird Tarah Sport headphones. Google says it is working not only with manufacturers like Anker, Bose, and more, but also with Bluetooth audio companies like Airoha, BES, and Qualcomm to boost the feature.

On the user side, Google is also making it easier for Android owners to switch. Once they have connected a Fast Pair-compatible accessory to a device associated with a Google account, all Android phones connected to that same user account will also easily connect to the same accessory. The only requirement is that you are running Android 6.0 or later. Fortunately, Google also plans to bring Fast Pair to Chromebooks, though we'll have to wait next year for details.
