MSI GTX 970 Gaming Gold Edition Announced
Finally the new MSI GTX 970 Gaming Gold Edition graphics card has been officially announced confirming the features that had been leaked so far.
The new MSI GTX 970 Gaming Gold Edition is mainly characterized by mounting an innovative copper-made radiator that replaces the traditional aluminum radiator used by the manufacturer with its Twin Frozr V cooling system.
Copper is a better conductor of heat than aluminum, so the use of a radiator of this material will make the temperature of the GPU lower than that of aluminum, which is why it is expected that the card has higher overcock margin.
The cooling system is completed with three thick copper heatpipes, which absorb the heat generated by the GPU and distribute it throughout the radiator, and a pair of 100mm Torx fans that are responsible for generating the necessary air flow. A rear backplate adds rigidity to the card and helps it cool.
Of course the card mounts the Nvidia GM204 GPU made up of 13 SMMs that add up to 1664 CUDA Cores operating at frequencies of 1165/1317 MHz in base mode and overclock respectively. The specifications are completed with 4GB of 7010 MHz GDDR5 VRAM attached to a 256-bit interface.
