Today we bring you a very interesting tool to measure the performance of your hard drive. It's called Anvil's Storage. Ready?

Anvil's Storage is a great tool that competes with the famous CrystalDiskMark. We are sure that you will be surprised by this benchmark, which is very complete. The truth is that there are not many good programs of this type, so we have decided to analyze this to leave you our impressions in writing. Let's start!

Anvil's Storage benchmark: a Swiss Army Knife

We say that it is a Swiss Army knife because it seems to us a super complete program that gives useful options to the user. It seems like just another benchmark more aimed at evaluating the performance of our hard drives. Yes, it is definitely that, but it does not all boil down to a performance tool.

As with CrystalDiskMark, it is easy to start any test on our hard drive. However, it seems to us that the Anvil's Storage interface is better polished because we see everything more clearly, in addition to having more information in front. Not to mention that system information is collected through WMI ( Windows Management Instrumentation ).

Regarding benchmarks, as you can see , it expresses all the results clearly, classifying everything in writing and reading. Based on this, it gives a note to our hard drive. The photo above represents the results of my 2TB 7, 200 RPM HDD; In the photo that I show you below you have the tests carried out on my SSD.

In the lower left corner, we have the general information of our team; In the lower right corner, we have the data of our selected hard disk, expressing what is free, the size, file system, etc.

Not only can we do a normal benchmark, but we can do several more tests, as we see in the "benchmarks" tab.

Adjustments

In the settings we find many interesting options designed to further customize the tests. We have 4 main sections:

  • General Settings . Endurance Settings . MD5 Options . IOmeter Options ( IOmeter Settings ).

As you can see, you can adjust almost everything related to the operation of the program, which is appreciated.

Conclusions

I find it a rather interesting program because it has a very intuitive interface and, in turn, offers us the typical functionalities of a benchmark for hard drives. In my opinion, I really like the way he expresses the test results, which is very comprehensive.

On the other hand, it allows us to make notes on the hard drive in the white box below. It also offers us different tests that we can try and that are not superfluous. I miss it being in Spanish, as CrystalDiskMark is, which seems to me its biggest rival.

Regarding the veracity of the tests, I have tried another test with CrystalDiskMark to compare results and see if they are equivalent in this regard. The results seem somewhat higher in CrystalDiskMark.

In short, it seems to me a very complete program, which is free and very easy to use because it is portable, that is, there are no installations to do.
