During the month of May, Aorus introduced an SSD storage unit that uses PCIe 4.0 technology, called Aorus Gen4 AIC SSD.

Aorus Gen4 AIC SSD is the world's fastest storage drive in its class at 15, 000 MB / s

At that time we did not know if this unit, which allows read and write speeds of 15, 000 MB / s, was going to reach the mass consumer market or if it would only be available in the server area. A few months later, Aorus announces that this super-fast unit will indeed be available for the retail market.

Gigabyte has plans to launch what could be the world's fastest PCIe 4.0 consumer SSD, offering users sequential read / write speeds of up to 15, 000 MB / s and 8 TB of storage capacity.

The drive calls itself the Aorus Gen4 AIC SSD, which uses four onboard PCIe 4.0 M.2 SSDs to deliver an incredibly powerful PCIe RAID storage solution. This unit is built with four 2TB PCIe 4.0 M.2 SSDs, each using 3D NAND TLC and the Phison PS5016-E16 controller.

This SSD uses a PCIe 4.0 x16 interface to deliver truly impressive read / write speeds. Additionally, the drive incorporates a 2GB DRAM cache to maximize performance and a dedicated cooling solution to keep the SSD cool under heavy loads. This SSD is designed to provide 430k random read IOPS and 440K random write IOPS.

Gigabyte has not yet released the release date or price tag for this SSD. However, it is believed that this could hit the market alongside the Threadripper 3000 launch in November. We will keep you informed.
