A security researcher has carried three NSA exploits to make them capable of working on all versions of Windows released in the last 18 years, making millions of users vulnerable.

New exploit that affects all Windows for 18 years

The three exploits in question are EternalChampion, EternalRomance and EternalSynergy. All of them were leaked by a group of hackers known as The Shadow Brokers, these claimed to have stolen the NSA code and overturned several exploits and hacking tools in April 2017, including EternalBlue, the exploit used in the WannaCry ransomware and others like NotPetya and Bad Rabbit.

The Shadow Brokers dump contained many lesser-known exploits, most of them only working on a small number of older versions of Windows so they have not come out.

RiskSense security researcher Sean Dillon (@ zerosum0x0) has modified the source code for some of these exploits to make them capable of working on a wide variety of Windows versions. These modified exploits have been merged into the Metasploit Framework, an open source project that is for academic purposes and to help improve user security.

This software has been created exclusively for academic research purposes and for the development of effective defensive techniques, and is not intended to be used to attack systems, except where explicitly authorized. The authors and those responsible for the project are not responsible or liable for the misuse of the software. Use it responsibly.

Metasploit Framework is able to work on all versions of the Microsoft operating system since Windows 2000, it is also compatible with both 32-bit and 64-bit versions, so all users are at risk.
