AMD has already unveiled its upcoming Vega 20 GPU, which will be the first with the new 7nm node, to be unveiled later this year, but no official performance tests have been done yet.

Vega 20 results appear under FFXV

Vega 20 belongs to the Radeon Instinct series, a graphics card for the professional sector that would soon make the leap towards 7 nm. Most of the benefits of this card will be simply thanks to the 7nm node, with energy savings and higher clock speeds on the GPU along with a 32GB HBM2 memory amount.

Now we have some results of this Vega 20 GPU in FFXV, the first that we can act in a video game. The used graphic card has as identification name 66AF: C1 that belongs to the Vega 20 family. This supposed card would be an engineering sample, something that AMD supposedly had in April in RTG laboratories.

The results of Vega 20 in FFXV are not very good to say, and this is logical considering that it is not a GPU for games, but for other tasks.

Vega 20 barely outperforms the GTX 1080

AMD's new GPU barely outperforms NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 1080, which is far from its fastest gaming card (even when Vega 64 was released, the GTX 1080 Ti and TITAN Xp were available). The card was tested in different resolutions, all more or less showing the same results or differences.

That the Vega 20 benchmark is already circulating means that its launch is getting closer, good news for the professional sector that requires more computing power.
