Apple was aware of the fragility problems of the iPhone 6 when it put them on sale

We all remember the situation experienced in 2014 with the launch of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. Shortly after they went on sale, customers began reporting that the devices were folding in their pockets, without any special force being applied to them.

Apple knew that iPhone 6s folded much more easily than their predecessors.

This situation was a major topic of discussion in the following months, until it was discovered that the bendgate problem was causing the devices to lose the responsiveness of the touch screen, due to problems on the motherboard.

Almost four years later, a new Motherboard report shows that Apple knew that iPhone 6 models were more likely to fold than previous generations. Internal company testing showed that the iPhone 6 was 3.3 times more likely to fold than the iPhone 5s. Results that were even worse for the iPhone 6 Plus that was 7.2 times more likely to double.

Such fragility in the design of the terminals is due to the lack of use of epoxy material to reinforce the motherboard, something that had been done in previous models. Apple changed the engineering process for the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus in May 2016, a year and a half after the scandal. Despite this, the Cupertino company never officially recognized the problem.

Apple has not commented on the recently discovered documents, it is very likely that its fans are sad to know that Apple knew that the devices were more likely to bend, and despite this they sold them for 18 months as if nothing happened.
