In this new tutorial we are going to learn how to mount one of the folders of our Windows operating system as if it were a hard disk drive. It is a very simple procedure and we only need to use a small free program.

How to Mount a Folder as a Windows Drive

First of all we need to download the Visual Subst program completely free from here. Once downloaded, we only need to unzip it and we can already use it, it is not necessary to install it.

Once the program is open we have to find the folder that we want to convert into a Windows drive from the magnifying glass icon and assign it a drive letter from the drop-down menu, in my case the folder is called "PROFESIONALREVIEW" and I have assigned it the letter "A" to the unit

Now we just have to click on the green cross and the selected folder will become a Windows virtual drive. If we check the box below every time we start our Windows, the folder will be mounted as a virtual drive.

This is how the new virtual drive appears, a limitation of Visual Subst is that it does not allow us to assign a name to the virtual drive that we create, it will simply be called the same as the hard drive in which the folder that we have selected is located.

If we enter the new virtual drive we will see that its content is the same as that of the folder that we have assigned:

There is also another program called Folder drives that is completely free. The mechanics is exactly the mass.

Using the console

This option may seem a bit messy, but we are going to make you understand it and make it very easy. First of all we are going to position ourselves in the following path: " C: \ Users \ YOUR USERNAME \ AppData \ Roaming \ Microsoft \ Windows \ Start Menu \ Programs \ Startup " or directly pressing the "Windows key + R" and then write:

shell: startup

We position ourselves in this folder, because we are going to create a small script (if it comes to be considered a script, of courseā€¦) so that each start starts with our session?

Now we create a shortcut, right- clicking -> New -> shortcut.

Then we write the following " subst [the path of the folder we want to share ". Being in this way:

subst W: C: \ Test

In this way we are creating the drive W: \ to be the folder C: \ Test. For example, this is very useful for torrent download folders, our games, series or movies folder. We will press next, we will give it the name we want and to finish we will click on finish.

As we can see the shortcut is already created and we can only start it. Now we go to Equipment and we can that the unit is working.
