We have good news regarding the Ryzen 5 2500U processor that comes with built-in GPU of VEGA architecture. The Ryzen 5 2500U would belong to the APU series with integrated graphics and today we can see some of its results on the Geekbench page, which we share with you in the following lines.

Ryzen 5 2500U is a qualitative leap compared to current APUs

According to Geekbench, The Ryzen 5 2500U '' Raven Ridge '' scored 3, 561 points in single-core performance and 9, 421 points in multi-tasking.

If we compare these results with the old APU A12 9800, we see that the performance is 36% higher in single-core and 46% higher in multi-task performance. The result is surprising considering that the Ryzen 5 2500U works at only 2GHz, while the A12 is working at 3.8GHz, yes, the latter with 4 threads, while the Ryzen does it with 8 threads.

As can be intuited by these results, the jump from the 'old' APUs based on Bulldozer and these new ones based on Ryzen is going to be substantial and it remains to be seen what the performance of the VEGA GPU will be like in the same package.

If you are wondering when these new AMD APUs began to be marketed, the red company itself estimates that it will have the first copies ready in early 2018, so it will not be so long. We will see if this encourages more notebook manufacturers to make their bet on APU processors, a segment in which Intel is dominating.
