The latest is Archive Poster, an extension available for Google Chrome. As in other previous situations, this extension makes use of the Coinhive script to mine cryptocurrencies.

It is an extension that is used to share content on blogs and social networks in a simple way. So there may be many users who use it. However, recently, the extension has an additional function that causes it to mine cryptocurrencies.

Archive Poster uses the Coinhive script

The extension uses the code that Coinhive offers to carry out the mining of cryptocurrencies using the equipment of the victims. As in other cases, the currency that is mined this time is Monero. So it is a story that we are beginning to know, because it has been repeated a lot in recent weeks. Always using Coinhive and mining Monero.

This issue has been reported to Google, in the hope that the bug will be remedied or Archive Poster at least temporarily removed, so that users do not install this extension. But, at the moment there is no reaction from the company.
